The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) extends its warmest congratulations to the people of Somaliland on the occasion of the 26th June anniversary, marking the day in 1960 when Somaliland first declared independence.
To commemorate this important date, the Secretary-General of the UNPO has sent an official letter of congratulations to H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, recognising the resilience, democratic achievements, and continued aspirations of the people of Somaliland.
“Somaliland represents one of many communities whose experience, vision, and leadership are helping to shape new pathways in a world that is evolving rapidly,” said the Secretary-General. “Their determination, despite the absence of formal recognition, reflects the very values on which the UNPO was founded.”
As an international platform for unrepresented and self-determined communities, the UNPO reaffirms its commitment to amplifying the voices of its members and shaping a more inclusive and principled global system where dignity, participation, and peaceful statecraft are not privileges, but rights.
