Crimean Tatars: EU Regional Development Agency to be Opened

The European Commission intends to open the Regional Development Agency in Crimea, a priority of its activities will include development of the resort-tourist and agrarian sectors of the region, Head of the European Commission Delegation to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira informed during a meeting with Crimean VR [Verkhovna Rada – Parliament] Chairman Anatoliy Hrytsenko and Crimean Prime Minister Viktor Plakyda.


As Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira noted, the European Commission highly appreciates the Crimea's potential for the benefit of which specialists of the international mission will work with the aim of attracting serious investments.


According to Head of the Crimean VR Anatoliy Hrytsenko, agreements on cooperation between the European Commission and the Crimean Autonomous Republic reached during the previous meeting held in Simferopol early June this year [2009] have come to the level of implementation and they will have a positive influence on the life of the peninsula. He underscored that presently diplomatic missions of such states as Switzerland, Lithuania, German, Great Britain, Slovakia and the Czech Republic confirmed an interest of their countries to invest the funds into different sectors of the Crimean economy.
