Below is a statement issued  by Humaira Rahman:

The World Sindhi Institute condemns the killing of innocent and indigenous Sindhi citizens on June 10th 2009 in Karachi and some days earlier in Hyderabad and Jamshoro, as they peacefully demonstrated against the demographic tsunami with which they are faced, yet again, for the fourth time in six decades.  The WSI condemns the murders of the workers of the Sindh United Party and the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party and the arrest of their workers as they peacefully rallied in Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Karachi highlighting their concerns.

WSI is of the view that IDP's from Swat Valley should and can easily be accommodated in NWFP, FATA, Punjab and the Capital Area, all much closer to their home base and culturally more aligned to their customs and traditions. Yet the state authorities have colluded to move IDPs to Sindh in a deliberate move to further destabilise Sindhi society and render them a minority in their own homeland.

The President and Board of the World Sindhi Institute condemns these targeted killings of Sindhi nationalist political workers and leaders (allegedly carried out under the instruction of  the PPP minister Zulfiqar Mirza, Home Minister Sindh) and demands that all those responsible or suspected of being responsible including the said minister be tried in a court of law. WSI further demands that the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court take immediate suo moto action to ensure that justice is done immediately . It is appalling and horrendous that peaceful citizens demanding their legitimate rights are murdered under government authority especially under a "democratic dispensation" brought about by the struggle, support and sacrifice of the people of Sindh. The World Sindhi Institute demands that the PPP should not only dismiss the said minister but expel him from basic membership, if found guilty.

The World Sindhi Institute urges members of the Sindhi Diaspora to pressurize Governments in their own countries of citizenship, emphasizing that Sindh and Sindhi Sufi values are a bulwark against the spread of wahabi extremism.
