Southern Cameroons: Armed Forces and Security Chaps Storm the Homes of SCNC Leader

On 29 September policemen allegedly stormed the homes of Nfor Ngala Nfor, Mr Nyah and Mr Mbinglo under the coordination of the North West Security Chief.

Below is an article, as reported to UNPO, issued following the targeting of the family of Mr Nfor Ngala Nfor leader of the SCNC and the event that occurred on the 29 September 2006:

"Early yesterday a contingent of armed policemen stormed the homes of Nfor Ngala Nfor, Mr Nyah and Mr Mbinglo under the coordination of the North West Security Chief. At Nfor Nfor's the entire home was turned upside down by the police who searched every nook and cranny of the house. Nfor Nfor’s wife, Mother’s and Children’s were interrogated for nearly 4 hours while smart looking security chaps guarded the entrance to his home and placed a siege on the Ntambesi quarter from 10 am to 2 p.m. They finally carted away a cartoon of books and a personal computer.

At Mr Nyah, the police guarded the gate as they found no one at home. At Mr Hitler Mbinglo an all night vigil and Police surveillance was mounted on the Mile 2 street and his compound until this moment. Many activists have gone into hiding for fear of arrests and imprisonment.

Earlier this week the North West administration issued a series of Press releases promising hard times for SCNC activists and its leadership. It is feared that under cover agents acting on the instructions of the panic-stricken government of La Republique may be planning to plant "Incriminating materials” in the homes of SCNC leaders in order to implicate blackmail them."
