The UN Secretariat has translated two proposals from Taiwan's diplomatic allies into six different languages -- English, Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic -- and forwarded them to the organization's member nations.

The proposals -- "The Question of the Representation and Participation of the 23 million people of Taiwan in the United Nations" and the "Peace Proposal" that asks the UN to take a more proactive role in maintaining peace and security in East Asia -- have also been posted on the UN's Web site, according to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday. The ministry said that the nation's bid to join the UN had been clearly voiced to the international community so that the rights of Taiwan's 23 million people could be respected.
