Rally in memory of victims of Chechen Genocide dispersed by police in Moscow


Militia's officers detained the organizers of the rally: Nikolaj Khramov, member of the General Council of the TRP, and Lev Ponomarev, chairman of the movement "For Human Rights"
February 23, 2004 at 12.00 p.m. in Moscow, a rally was organized by the Transnational Radical Party, movement "Russian Radicals", movement "For Human Rights", Committee of Anti-war Actions, A.D.Sakharov Public Center and "Anti-war club", with demands of peace and democracy for Chechnya and for Russia, and introduction to the territory of Chechnya of the UN peace-making forces. Over one hundred and a half people came to Lubyanskaya square under flags of the Radical Party and the Chechen national flags to place flowers at the Solovetsky stone and to honour memory of victims of the Chechen genocide of 1944 which proceeds today.

Militia's officers detained the organizers of the rally - Nikolaj Khramov, Secretary of the movement "Russian Radicals", member of the General Council of the TRP, and Lev Ponomarev, chairman of the movement "For Human Rights", currently they are being held in the Department of Internal Affairs "Kitay-gorod". The following people also were detained: Leonid Positselsky, Dmitry Zlotnikov, Mikhail Kukobaka, Boris Stomakhin, Igor Kozyrev, Evgeny Frumkin, Olga Koshkarova, Alexander Maysuryan, Igor Lunkov, Vladimir Matveyev, Shamil Shiabetdin who are being held in the Basmanny militia station.
