A delegation from Assyria National Assembly / Diaspora (ANA) represented by Mr. Sam Shlimon and Mr. David Oraha met in Ottawa with the Turkish ambassador in Canada Mr. Aydemir Erman in the presence of the embassy’s first-secretary Mr. Aslan Alper Yuksel.

The Turkish ambassador welcomed his guests and both sides discussed the current conditions in Iraq and the role that the Assyrians have in the re-building of a united democratic Iraq.

The Turkish ambassador asserted to his guests that the Assyrians are the indigenous people of Iraq and that the Assyrian civilization is the Cradle of Civilizations.

The meeting lasted almost two and a half hours during which lunch was served at the honor of the two guests and the discussions continued about the situation in Iraq in general and the Assyrian affairs in particular.
