177 MPs Join the 146 MEPs by Signing the Appeal for the Establishment of an Interim UN Administration in Chechenia
Brussels, 18 February 2004. 177 members of national parliaments have signed the appeal in support of the Peace Plan put forward by the Chechen Foreign Minister Ilyas Akhmadov. The parliamentarians include 2 British MPs, 29 French senators, 3 Belgian senators, 2 Albanian deputies, a Cambodian senator, a Catalan senator, an Italian senator, a Bulgarian deputy, 24 Cambodian deputies, 2 Costa Rican deputies, 4 Croatian deputies, 7 French deputies, 4 Georgian deputies, a German deputy, an Icelandic deputy, 20 Italian deputies, 21 Lithuanian deputies, a Macedonian deputy, a Nigerian deputy, 3 Norwegian deputies, 44 Polish deputies and two former Russian deputies.

Among them are Vytautas Landsbergis, former President of the Republic of Lithuania; Jack Lang, former French Minister of Culture and of Education; Kazimierz Ujadowski, former Polish Minister of Culture; Jan Olszewski, former Polish Prime Minister; Michel Dreyfus-Schmidt, Honorary Vice-president of the French Senate; Agron Buxhaku, Vice-president of the Macedonian parliament; and Sam Rainsy, President of the PSR (Cambodia).
