Shan Leader Arrested by Burmese Soldiers

Untitled Document Apr 6, 2005 (DVB) - An assistant of detained Shan State Peace Council (SSPC) chairman Gen Hso Ten, has been arrested by soldiers of Burma’s military junta, State Peace and Development Council (SPDC).

Col Sa Kana and some members of Shan State National Army (SSNA) were arrested on 4 April at Wansa-u Village, Theinni (Hsenwi) Township in Northern Shan State near China.

Some “unlicensed” cars and over 20 assorted firearms and ammunitions were also confiscated, but it is not known where they were taken to. Some gunfire sounds were heard when they soldiers raided the village and there could be an exchange of gunfire between the two sides, according to sources close to the SSNA.
