Madhesh: Nepali Government Committed to Improving Life in Terai Region


The Nepali Government has publicly announced several infrastructural projects aimed at improving the living conditions in the Terai region. Terai is one of the poorest regions of Nepal, which has long been lacking investments from the Nepali government.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth has said that the government was committed to increasing the economic standard of the people in the tarai.

Laying foundation stone of road projects in Karjanha of Siraha on Saturday, Minister Mahaseth said the government has come up with projects to bring a wave of development in the region.

There is enough budget, and if that could be spent on time, then the wave of development will come, Minister Mahaseth said while adding that for it the people’s representatives need to be honest.

Under the Tarai Madhes Prosperity Program, 32 development projects have been implemented for Siraha alone.

Former Minister and CPN [Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre)] Leader Ajaya Shanker Nayak stressed on the need to develop and publicize Karjanha municipality as a beautiful town.

Municipality Mayor Ganga Paswan, former Minister Biswanath Shah, MP Lilanath Shrestha, provincial MP Dilip Shah and other speakers expressed their views on the occasion.
