NEWSLETTER JULY-AUGUST 2018

During the months of July and August 2018, UNPO convened its 2018 SpeakOut! human rights training in Brussels, providing young activists with advocacy skills and knowledge to transform themselves into agents of change. UNPO also published two reports and thereby contributed to the United Nations’ review processes, submitting both a report on the situation of the Khmer-Krom on the occasion of Vietnam’s Universal Periodic Review and a report on Mauritania on the occasion of the country’s review during the 79th session of the Convention for the Rights of the Child. In Washington, DC, UNPO organized a congressional conference on the issue of slavery in the Sahel and contributed to the introduction of a resolution on the situation of Hmong communities in Northern Laos.
