In December 2017 and January 2018, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) convened a number of events. A conference about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), taking place in Washington DC, shone a light on the human rights situation in Gilgit-Baltistan. Other activities during these two months included an event at the United Nations’ Minority Forum which provided a platform for youth minority representatives to discuss the detrimental impact of enforced assimilation, an event introducing Abkhazian products and its tourism potential to the European market, as well as the release of several reports and UPR submission.
