Crimean Tatars: OSCE Member States Advocate in Support of Crimean Tatars

On 7 December 2017, the delegations of twelve countries, including Canada, Sweden, the United States and the UK, have advocated for increased pressure on the Russian Federation due to violations of human rights in the occupied Crimea at the 24th meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial Council in Vienna, Austria. The delegation of Canada declared full solidarity with the Crimean Tatars, support for Ukraine and condemnation of the actions of the Russian Federation.

At yesterday's [7 December 2017] OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, the delegations of twelve countries, including the United States, Canada, Sweden, the UK and others, advocate increasing pressure on the Russian Federation due to violation of human rights in the occupied Crimea.

"The United States, Canada, Sweden, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Estonia, Norway, the United Kingdom, Denmark [say there is a need] to increase pressure on the Russian Federation," Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Mariana Betsa tweeted.

In particular, Betsa informed that representatives of the US delegation stated that the United States fully supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and will never recognize the illegal occupation and annexation of Crimea by Russia.

Betsa also reported that the delegation of Canada declared full solidarity with the Crimean Tatars, support for Ukraine and condemnation of the actions of the Russian Federation.

As reported, the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council has started in Vienna today. The delegation of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine together with Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov holds an event on the human rights situation in the occupied Crimea.
