Nagalim: Naga Talks on Monday

Indian negotiators will meet the leaders of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim on Monday to discuss the issue of defining the contours of a close relationship between the Nagas and New Delhi
Indian negotiators, led by Oscar Fernandez, will meet the leaders of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) on Monday to discuss the issue of defining the contours of a close relationship between the Nagas and New Delhi. They will also discuss the integration of the Naga-inhabited areas.

The meeting is likely to make reference to talks held in 1967 between the Nagas and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Veteran journalist and Naga affairs expert Harish Chandola, who was associated with the talks, said Indira Gandhi had proposed letting the Centre control matters relating to defence, foreign affairs, currency and security, leaving other subjects for the Nagas.
