Abkhazia: New Foreign Minister Congratulates António Guterres

Minister Daur Kove, who was recently appointed as new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, congratulated António Guterres on his appointment as the new UN Secretary General. He underlined the importance of the United Nations and its unique credibility and legitimacy. Against the background of existing political realities, Kove furthermore expressed his hopes that Mr Guterres will make an effort in building a new UN approach to cooperation with the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Daur Kove congratulated António Guterres on his appointment as the UN Secretary General.
The congratulatory message says:
Let me sincerely congratulate you on your appointment to the post of the UN Secretary General.
Your wealth of experience and professionalism will no doubt become a reliable guarantee of success at such a significant and responsible post.
We in the Republic of Abkhazia are well aware of the role and importance of the UN as one of the largest organizations on the basis of which is built the entire system of international security. The United Nations, having a membership of 193 states, has no equal in the degree of credibility, legitimacy and representation.
I express the hope that the Republic of Abkhazia - a state recognized by the UN member states - will have the opportunity to express its position on the most important issues for our country.
I hope that you will make all the necessary efforts to build a new UN approach to cooperation with the Republic of Abkhazia, taking into account existing political realities.
Let me wish you, dear Mr. Gutteres, success in the important and responsible work for the benefit of world peace and security."
