Gagauzia Does Not Pretend to Be The Third Subject of the Future Federation of Moldova

Gagauzia does not pretend to be the third subject of the future federation
Gagauzia does not pretend to be the third subject of the future federation. It is such today. We do not demand our participation in the talks on Transdniestria’s future status. But the existence of the Gagauzian autonomy since 1995 must be reflected in the RM new Constitution. Bashkan of the ATU Gagauz-Eri Gheorhgii Tabunscic has declared it at a press conference, devoted to the first 100 days of his administration of the autonomy.

Touching on the economic situation in the region, he has said that it is planned to open 10 thousand new working places in the nearest four years. He has underlined that it will be achieved by setting up industrial enterprises on the basis of investments.

For example, the Vulcanesti Free Economic zone allowed it to attract $7 million and create 500 jobs. According to the Bashkan, they currently negotiate with investors from Russia, Belarus , Turkey, the USA and Italy. The Strategic Program envisages the construction of an oil refinery of annual capacity at 150-200 thousand tons of primary product a year, a vegetable oil refinery – of 30 thousand tons of vegetable oil a year.

Besides, a 240 megawatt power plant, a vegetable oil refinery will be built with support of Italian investors.

Touching on the situation in agriculture, Gheorghii Tabunscic has noted that the implementation of the “Pamint” Program was a big mistake. Many landowners make proposals to the Gagauzian authorities to set up agricultural production cooperatives. Initiative groups on setting them up are currently being formed.
