Gagauzia: The Elections to The National Assembly Concluded


Last Sunday the second tour of the elections to the National Assembly in two electoral districts was concluded in Gagauzia
Last Sunday the second tour of the elections to the National Assembly in two electoral districts was concluded in Gagauzia. The participation of the electors constituted on the average more than 35.5% that allows the election to be recognized as valid. Candidate of the Public Political Movement “Ravnopravie” Iurii Petcovici and Independent Candidate Dmitrii Chioroglo won. The Court of Appeal will consider the lawfulness of the election of these candidates before December 19. The National Assembly will elect its Speaker and the Commission Chairmen at the first plenary sitting. The National Assembly will have to approve the Budget-2004 of the Territorial Unit, because the elections did not allow it to be done earlier.

Note by As INTERLIC News agency: 17 independent candidates, 16 from the CPRM, 1 from the Socialist Party and 1 from “Ravnopravie” were elected.
