Balochistan: Father and Son Abducted by Security Forces

A dental surgeon and his son were abducted by Pakistani security forces at gunpoint last Thursday. Enforced disappearances are a major cause of tension in the region, and are used extensively by the authorities as a scare tactic in order to exert control over the local population.

Pakistani security forces have reportedly abducted a Baloch dental surgeon along with his son from Koshkalat area of Turbat Balochistan on Thursday [20 November 2014] evening.

According to details Dr Baqir Baloch and his young son Notak Baloch were on their way from Turbat to Koshkalat when Pakistani security forces intercepted them and abducted them at gunpoint.

Dr Baqir Baloch is a Dental Surgeon at District Hospital Turbat, Balochistan.

Nuoroz Baloch, another son of Dr Baqir, was also killed by Pakistani forces in Turbat on February 23, 2014.

Baqir Baloch and his son’s whereabouts remained unknown until filing of this report. His family are said to be extremely worry about his safety and well-being.

Meanwhile sister of Naveed son of Mohammad Meyaar Baloch said in a press conference that her brother was abducted four days ago from his fields in Shapok area of Balochistan.

She said on the day of Naveed’s abduction security forces arrested another 20 people but the rest of them were released later.

“My brother has returned from abroad after three year of hard work and it was third of his marriage when the security forces abducted him. He has no affiliation with any political parties or organisations,” she said adding that we poor people and he is the only bread earner of our family.

She said if her brother was involved in any illegal activities then he should be presented to a court.

“We have met with the commissioner of Makuran to appeal him for my brother’s release. He assured us his help,” She said.
