Iranian President Rouhani recently visited West Balochistan, which is in a deep economic crisis as a result of longstanding marginalization of the region for historical and geostrategic reasons, as well as discrimination against the Baloch people. In the run-up to the 2013 presidential elections, Rouhani had promised job creation, economic development and increased security for the region.
