Southern Mongolia: First Women’s Rights Protection Organisation Founded


On March 7th the first independent organisation for protection women’s and children’s rights was established.

A press conference publicizing the founding of the Inner Mongolia Women's Rights Protection and Psychological Consultation Center, the first public welfare social organization for women's and children's rights protection in the region, was held on March 7 in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

A total of 60 people from the Inner Mongolia National Development and Reform Commission, Women's Federation, Department of Justice, and legal professionals, news media and volunteers attended the ceremony.

The Inner Mongolia Women's Rights Protection and Psychological Consultation Center was formerly known as the Inner Mongolia Women's Rights Protection Volunteer Working Corps, which was established by hundreds of lawyers and psychologists under the support of the Inner Mongolia Women's Federation in 2006. The next year, Inner Mongolia Women's Rights Protection and Psychological Consultation Center was founded and in 2013, it officially became a nonprofit comprehensive service agency, and independent legal entity, for the protection of women's and children's rights.
