Nagalim: Speaker Calls For “Honourable Settlement”


The speaker of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Chotisuh Sazo unfurled the tri-color in Dimapur at the celebration of the 67th Indian Independence Day at the DDSC stadium, and addressed the crowd about the future of the territory.

In his speech, Chotisuh reminded the significance of the current year 2013 as Nagaland would turn 50 on December 1.

 

On the Naga political issue, the chief guest appealed to various Naga groups to listen to the voice of the people and to make sincere effort towards finding an honourable settlement based on the principles of reconciliation and unity as outlined in the Covenant of Reconciliation and Naga Concordant.

 

He also appealed to the government of India to make the offer of a political settlement for the Naga people at the earliest, so that permanent peace come to Nagaland to usher in a new era of development and progress.

 

Sazo also called upon the people of Nagaland to be proactive in the process of finding a resolution to the Naga political problem. Giving an overall scenario of the state, the chief guest dwelt on different issues and policies concerning the state, interventions and achievements brought during the tenure of DAN government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio in different fields. He also said all governmental departments were expected to undertake at least one innovative activity or project during the year.

 

Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the National flag and inspected the parade. A total of 15 contingents participated in the March Past. Census and ATMA award were given to the selected awardees by the chief guest.

 

At the entertainment extravaganza, choreography, songs and dances were performed by Bethesda Hr Sec School, Mind Blower’s cultural troupe, Dimapur Bengali Samaj, St Mary Montessori & High School, Carmel He Sec School and Kids for Fame, Season-4. There was also a presentation by OJ Modeling, Grooming & Training Agency. Later, the exhibition stalls was inaugurated by the chief guest followed by a football exhibition match between Golaghat Veterans Football Association XI and Dimapur Veterans Football Association.
