Oromo: Refugees Protest in Egypt Against Mistreatment

Oromo refugees continue to protest against harassment in Egypt outside the Cairo UNHCR office.

Below is an article published by Al Jazeera:

Ethiopian refugees gathered for a second day outside the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees office near Cairo, protesting alleged harassment from Egyptians and calling for greater protection. They say the mistreatment stems from Egyptians who oppose the Ethiopian government’s controversial Grand Renaissance Dam.

The protesters, mainly from the Oromo ethnic group, left Ethiopia due to political and ethnic oppression. They emphasised their detachment from and displeasure with the Ethiopian government.
