The Supreme Court in the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia began questioning Thursday members of the central electoral commission which announced the presidential polls on October 3 valid and named Sergei Bagapsh the winner.

The hearing is conducted in connection with the complaint by Bagapsh's main rival -- Raul Khadzhimba -- who challenged the CEC's decision.

The Supreme Court is expected to complete the questioning of all the 15 CEC members later on Thursday.

One CEC official questioned on Wednesday, acknowledged that the Commission was under pressure, but remarked that no such pressure was put on him personally.
