Ogaden: Zenawi Met By Huge Protests In Oslo


Members of the Ogaden Norwegian diaspora held a protest at the hotel in which Ethiopian President Meles Zenawi is staying to highlight the human rights violations against the Ogaden.

Crowds of Ogaden Scandinavian Communities estimated between four and five hundred protesters blockaded in front of the Radisson Plaza in downtown Oslo, Norway The protesters who represented all the Ogaden Communities in Scandinavian countries have obtained a permit to protest in the only entrance of the Hotel where Meles was staying.

The Ogaden Communities were demonstrating against Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi participating in the conference, ‘Energy for all: financing access for the poor.’

Members of the Ogaden community accused Meles Zenawi of committing genocide in the Ogaden. 

The Ogaden people are fighting for self-determination. Extra-judicial killings, rape, disappearances, destruction of livelihood and the displacement of thousands of Ogaden people are the daily norm in Ogaden.
