On 18 October 2004 the Govt. decided to withdraw 900 Police personnel from 15 camps of three Hill Districts and these will be replaced by Army personnel

personnel from 15 camps of three Hill Districts and these will be replaced by
Army personnel. Of course, the army replacement has not yet been declared but
made known to PCJSS by a reliable quarter. The govt. will take an opportunity
of Army deployment to a call made 18 October by Ms. Mya Mya Ching, Chairperson,
Bandarban Hill District Council to postpone the decision of withdrawal of Police
for the sake of public security.
