Crimean Tatars: Turkish Officials Visit Mejlis


Turkish delegation visits Crimean Tatar representatives to broaden social, economic and cultural relations and strengthen peace and neighborliness in the Black Sea region.

The delegation of the Agency of Development of Northern Anatolia came with an official visit to Crimea. The delegation consisted of mayors and governors of Kastamonu, Sinop and Chankara towns (Turkey), as well as the official figures heading departments and services of the City halls of the mentioned above cities.

In the framework of their visit that started on July 20, 2011 the Turkish delegation along with the General Consul of the Turkish Republic in Odessa Husein Ergani and the Honored Consul of the Turkish Republic in Crimea Seiran Osmanov met on July 21, 2011 the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev, President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, First Deputy Chairman of Mejlis Refat Chubarov and Head of Foreign relations department of Mejlis Ali Khamzin.

According to the Turkish guests during their working visit to Crimea they planned a range of official meetings with heads of the Council of Ministers of ARC and mayors of a range of Crimean towns to discuss the questions of social - economic and cultural relations between Crimea and the Turkish regions they represent, including opening of new transportation communications between seaside towns of Crimea and Turkey. So, according to the governor of the province Sinop Ahmet Jengiz they prepared the offers on establishment of sea communication Sinop – Yalta and a flight Simferopol – Kastamonu.

The Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev in his turn greeted the activisation of the Turkish business circles on broadening the economic and cultural relations between Ukraine and Turkey and drew their attention to the importance of the human evaluation during the implementation of the projects. Mustafa Jemilev and other members of Mejlis, characterizing the most important and sensitive problems for the development of Crimea and Crimean Tatar people, told in details about the issues related to the economic and spiritual development of the Crimean Tatar people.

The parties expressed their mutual confidence that such kinds of visits that let making the personal acquaintance with Crimea and its potential, interesting and dramatic history of Crimea, the modern problems of Crimea and the ways of their solution, serve to strengthening of peace and neighbourliness in Black Sea region and broadening of neighbourliness between Ukraine and Turkey.
