Crimean Tatars: Commemorating the Victims of Deportation


The commemoration of the 67th anniversary of deportation was concluded by adoption of the Resolution calling for restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatars in their home land.

The All-Crimean mourning meeting timed to the 67th anniversary of the Deportation against the Crimean Tatar people has ended with the national anthem of Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar national anthem. The participants of the rally have adopted a Resolution of the All-Crimean commemoration meeting in honour of victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people – the Deportation of May 18, 1944 and the decades of its forcible confinement in the places of exile.

“We, the participants of the All-Crimean mourning meeting held in Aqmescit on May 18, 2011, being assured that the establishment of a democratic and independent Ukraine is impossible without the restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people as enshrined by international regulations on the rights of peoples and human rights, noting the significant work by delegates of the Qurultay of the Crimean Tatar people, the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the World Congress of Crimean Tatars on the preparation of the International Forum on the restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people in its homeland, its safety and guarantee of development in Ukraine, call on the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Council of Europe and the European Union to decide soon on the date and venue of the International Forum,” reads the Resolution.
