Crimean Tatars: Trilingual School Education Developed in Crimea

New educational reforms enacted by the Crimean autonomous government are aimed at spreading the knowledge of the Crimean language, however questions remain about the willingness to implement them.

Below is an article published by National Radio Company of Ukraine:

"This will help relieve tension and achieve inter-ethnic harmony in multi-ethnic region" - the autonomy authorities believe. Now on the peninsula there are almost 40 schools teaching in three languages - Ukrainian, Russian and Crimean Tatar.

Most educational institutions teach students in the Russian language. As was noted in the Council of Ministers of Crimea, for teaching school subjects in the Crimean Tatar language they do not have enough qualified teachers and educational literature, but the government tries to solve this problem. Remember: according to experts, in Ukraine 15 languages are endangered with extinction, the Crimean Tatar language is one of them.
