Paneuropean Union celebrating its 80th anniversary


p align="justify">The Paneuropean Union held its General Assembly in conjunction with seminars and celebration of the organisation’s 80th anniversary, respectively held in Bratislava and Vienna from 12 - 14 April 2002.
Among the guests of the events were: Helmut Kohl, former German Chancellor, Rudolf Schuster, President of the Slovak Republic, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, foreign Minister of Austria, Werner Fasslabend, President of Austrian Parliament, Dr Aslambek Kadiev, the Chechen representative in Europe.

UNPO Director-General Karl von Habsburg attended the General Assembly in Bratislava in his capacity as president of the Paneuropean Union of Austria. Mr. VonHabsburg also acted as moderator for a discussion on the topic “ The borders of Europe”, on 13 April 2002. Other topics of the seminars included EU enlargement and economy, enlargement and security, and the peoples and populations in Europe.
