Balochistan: State Powerless As List of Murdered Activists Grows

Another Balochistan National Party (BNP) activist in Khuzdar has been murdered with Baloch political parties accusing the Pakistani security forces of the killings.

Below is an article published by the Daily Times:

Two more bullet-riddled bodies were found in Lasbela and Khuzdar districts on Monday [14 February 2011], official sources said.

According to official sources in Khuzdar, a body was found near a seasonal river known as Kohshak Nadi. The body was taken to the District Headquarter Hospital by locals. They received a letter from his pocket which had his name written on it, police sources said. The victim was identified as Saeed Ahmed, an activist of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) in Khuzdar.

BNP Khuzdar chapter President, Aslam Gernagari, said that Ahmed was kidnapped some three months ago from Pangur and since then he was missing. He was a tailor by profession and also an activist of the party, he said.

BNP announced a shutter-down strike in Khuzdar and adjoining areas on February 18 to condemn the killing of its party worker.

Meanwhile, police recovered another bullet-riddled body from RCD Highway near Zero Point area of Uthal. The body was taken to a nearby hospital where he was identified as Harzi Khan. He was kidnapped along with his late cousin Sohbat Khan Marri in September last from industrial town of Hub. The body of Sohbat Khan was recovered on last December 26 from Hub.

Police registered cases against unidentified men and investigations into the incident were underway. Baloch political parties accused security forces of the killings and said that so far they had received around 100 bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch political workers.
