Balochistan: No End to Enforced Disappearances and Killings


The bodies of five previously abducted Baloch were found in different areas of Balochistan as the ‘Voice for Baloch Missing People’ work to recover missing persons but targeted killings do not cease.

Five […] bodies were recovered from different districts of Balochistan including Kech, Khuzdar and Mastung during the past two days [17-18 December 2010].

As per reports reaching here, Levies Force on a tip-off recovered two bodies from the desolate area of Turbat in Kech district and moved them to the hospital for autopsy where they were identified as Yousuf Raza, resident of Tump, and Razzaq Baloch, resident of Mand.

Sources said that both victims were abducted by unidentified people from Buleda Cross a few days back when they were on their way to Awaran from Turbat. Sources said that they were tortured before being killed.

A [total] strike was observed in Turbat, Tump, Mand and other towns of the Kech district. All shops and markets remained closed while tight security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incidents in Kech district.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), which is struggling for the recovery of Baloch missing persons, said that 60 bodies of Baloch missing persons had been recovered from different parts of Balochistan so far.

In another incident, Levies Force recovered two bodies from Khuzdar district some 350km away from Quetta on Friday [17 December].

Sources said that Levies personnel recovered two bodies from the Pashk area of Khuzdar and shifted them to the Civil Hospital Khuzdar where they were identified as Ibrahim Muhammad Hassani, resident of the Soorab area of the Kalat district, and Noor Ahmed Zehri, resident of the Baghbana area of Khuzdar.

Hospital sources said that bodies of victims were having bullet wounds.

Levies sources said that bodies had been handed over to their heirs and investigations were underway to ascertain motives behind the killings.

Meanwhile, Levies Force recovered the […] body of youngster from the Mastung district, 60 km away from the provincial capital.

Sources said that local people informed the Levies that a body was lying in the Koshak area of Mastung on which Levies personnel rushed to the site and moved the body to Civil Hospital Mastung for autopsy.

The victim was hit by bullets in his head and chest that resulted in his instant death, hospital sources said. Later the body was shifted to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital where he was identified as Abdul Rahim Bangulzai (22), resident of Killi Bangulzai, Quetta. The family members of Abdul Rahim held government agencies responsible for his abduction and killing.
