Obituary Mr. Marino Busdachin former General Secretary of the UNPO
The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO) and its members are deeply saddened by the passsing of Marino Busdachin, former General Secretary of the organization. Mr. Busdachin was an influential figure within UNPO and an unwavering champion of human rights, dedicating his efforts to supportin unrepresented peoples and nations worldwide.
Through his carrer, spanning back to the 1970S, Mr. Busdachin consistenly demostrated an unwavering commitment to promoting human, civil and political rights. As a prominant member and representative of the Itailian Radical Party, a political organization to which he remained devoted until his passing, Mr. Busdachin actively participated in numerous campaigns aimed at establishing specialized international tribunalts to address war crimes in the former Yuguslavia and Rwanda. Additionally, he played a pivotal role for a global moratorium on the death penalty within the United Nations, leveraging his involvement with the Radical Party to advance this cause.
During his tenure as General Secretary of UNPO from 2003 to 2018, Mr. Busdachin became a staunch advocate for the fundamental right to self-determination, tirelessly amplifying the voices of oppressed and unrepresented peoples around the world. His unwaverign dedication to pursuing justice and equatlity for oppressed peoples have left an indelible mark on the international community.
