The United Naga Council along with other Naga civil organisations is all prepared to honour National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M) leader Thuingaleng Muivah during his proposed visit despite the Manipur government’s firm resolve to block his entry.
The Ibobi Singh government is said to have rushed more security, including CRPF jawans, at the inter-state boundary at Mao in Senapati district to prevent the Naga leader, who is expected to reach tomorrow on his visit to his native village at Somdal in Ukhrul district, from entering the state.
The United Naga Council in a joint statement, said the Naga people keenly await the arrival of Th. Muivah.
It added that the Nagal people would treat the leader with great fervour, who is the chief negotiator of the Nagas in the Indo-Naga peace talks, and will honour him for his tremendous contribution towards international peace in the South East Asian region.
Putting forth the stand taken by Presidential Council of the United Naga Council and Naga Frontal Organisations held in Senapati district (known as Tahamzam to Nagas) on April 26, recorded its gratefulness to Th. Muivah for deciding to undertake his maiden National Peace and unanimously decided to welcome him in a befitting manner, the statement added.
All preparations for the Naga leader grand public reception at Ukhrul and Senapati are completed.
The joint statement was made by Naga Women’s Union Manipur, Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights, All Naga Students Association Manipur and United Naga Council today.
