Nagalim: Every Naga Called To Fight Against HIV/AIDS

A programme on Advocacy Campaign on HIV/AIDS with Stakeholders under the theme ‘Together we can’ was held at Town Hall Mokokchung on April 21, 2010. The objective of the programme is to create awareness on update HIV epidemic, Reduce Stigma & Discrimination attached to HIV, treatment & care, linkages and community response.

Minister for PHED Nagaland Dr. Ngangshi who was the guest speaker said since the first case of HIV was detected in Nagaland in 1994, it has spread like on epidemic which by now have infected thousands of people in Nagaland, which every Nagas must take it as a challenge to prevent from spreading further. He said HIV/AIDS is neither a medical nor a health issue but it is a developmental, behavioural and a moral issue. He also called upon the church leaders, NGOs and all right thinking citizens to come together under on banner to protect our society and to be free from the clutch of HIV/AIDS.

The programme was jointly organized by the Network of Mokokchung people living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+) and Naga Network people living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+) and supported by the Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on HIV/AIDS (LFA).
