Govt has no excuse now, says Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on the government to launch efforts for the welfare of the common man, as following the passage of the 18th Amendment Bill, “it cannot cite lack of authority as an excuse”. Addressing the House after the passage of the bill, Nisar said the day had proven that politicians could “rise above personal interests and work for the welfare of the masses”. “Today, I feel proud of being a politician,” he said. Nisar hoped that decisions on issues of national interest would now be made ”by this parliament ... not the US”. He called on the government to protect the country from terrorism. The leader of the opposition urged the government to take more steps to address the grievances of the people of Balochistan. He called on the government to invoke Article 6 of the constitution to “put an end to military takeovers once and for all”. staff report
