Oromo: Women To Make Elections Democratic, Peaceful


Active ImageChief Administrator of the Oromia State, Abadula Gemeda, said women need to play active role in the efforts being made to make the upcoming May national elections democratic and peaceful.

Speaking at the 4th Oromia State Women’s Conference held here yesterday in connection with this year’s International Women’s Day (March 8), Abadula said women need to integrate efforts in order to make the forthcoming national elections peaceful, fair and democratic.
   
He said women need to struggle individuals that attempt to spoil the smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections.
   
He said the conducive policies and strategies put in place over the past years enabled millions of women to generate wealth and contribute share for the economic growth of the country.

Women should work hand in hand in order to ensure the sustainability of ongoing economic growth and make upcoming elections peaceful and credible, Abadula reiterated.
   
The State Chief on the occasion handed over prizes to women development heroes who saved from 12,000 up to 4 million birr by engaging in various development activities.
