Abkhazia: Ukrainian and Georgian Leaders discuss South Ossetia and Abkhazia


Ukrainian President and Georgian President discussed South Ossetia and Abkhazia but also commercial and economic cooperation, expanding political dialogue and future political cooperation.
Untitled Document Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma has expressed interest in helping resolve the conflict between Georgia and its separatist regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Mr. Kuchma made the comments Tuesday following a meeting in Crimea with visiting Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.

The two leaders also discussed commercial and economic cooperation, expanding political dialogue and future political cooperation.

The Georgian news service, Civil Georgia, says Mr. Saakashvili hopes today's meeting will result in Ukrainian support for a settlement to the conflict between Georgian authorities and the country's separatist regions that is favorable to the central government.

Georgian officials have vowed to bring the regions back under central control.
