Abkhazia will work toward having the international community
recognize its independence, new Abkhaz Foreign Minister Igor Akhba said as the
prime minister of the breakaway Georgian province introduced him to the Foreign
Ministry's staff on Friday.
"Abkhazia's foreign policy will not change. We will work to have the international community recognize our republic's independence," he said.
Work on having closer relations with Russia will also continue, Akhba said.
