Hmong: Refugees Break from Camps

Some 5,000 Hmong refugees broke from their shelters at Phetchabun's Ban Huay Nam Khao on Friday [20 June 2008], heading to Bangkok to make their demands heard to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bangkok.

They are now being blocked by a military unit in the area which tries to push them back into the camp.

They are part of some 8000 Hmong ethnic minority from Laos who sought better live in Thailand or resettlement in the third countries.
