Southern Cameroons: Celebrations Planned


The Southern Cameroons have set the timetable for a week of events to mark their 46th independence anniversary, which will be celebrated by those residing in Southern Cameroons and Diaspora alike.

Below is a press release by the Southern Cameroons National Council:

Independence Anniversary Celebration

Southern Cameroons Independence Anniversary Celebration coming up on 1st October 2007 will take place all over the national territory and in the Diaspora under SCNC Chapters.  1st October 2007 marks the 46th Anniversary of our INDEPENDENCE.

This year’s commemoration will last for one week starting on September 24, 2007.

Programme of Activities is as follows:

1.  Sept. 24 – 25

Keeping Southern Cameroons Clean, Planting of trees etc.

 

This will be under direct supervision of LGA and Precinct Chairpersons.  The population should be mobilized for effective work.

2.  Sept. 26 – 27

Cultural Manifestations and rehearsals, football, etc.

Practices for displays and competition on “D” day.

3.   Sept. 28

Prayers in Mosques,

Cultural activities continue.

Imams take charge. Moslems pray for ALLAH, Most High, to lead our nation to freedom.

4.  Sept. 29

Prayers by Seven Day Adventists

Religious Authorities take charge – Pray for God’s intervention in our legitimate struggle.

5.   Sept. 30

Prayers in all Churches

Pray that the Lord of Justice who gave this land to Southern Cameroonians should liberate and restore them masters of their land.

6.   1st October

Programme starts at 8:00am with gathering at strategic points.

-     Hoisting of National Flag

-     Singing of National Anthem FREEDOM LAND

-     Reading of Message of the Chancellor of the Provisional Administration and National Chairman of SCNC

-     Cultural Manifestations, Football matches and other games.

-     SCNC-Diaspora - peaceful demonstrations as directed in earlier communications.

This shall be under the Chairmanship of LGA and County Chairpersons.  Zonal and National officials shall oversee effective execution and celebration.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter Chairpersons should ensure effective mobilization for positive results.

7.  2nd October

Press Conference – marking UN International Day of  Non-violence

National & International Press, Human Rights Activists and Population all invited.

     


National Information and Organising Secretaries shall be on permanent alert, monitor and report promptly any negative development.
