Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has offered humanitarian organizations operating in Chechnya to move their offices to the republic where the situation has stabilized, the head of the department for foreign relations at the Chechen government, Ramzan Lechkhadzhiyev, told representatives of human organizations on Thursday [02 August 2007].

He said that under a proposal of the Chechen president, humanitarian organizations must move their offices and depots to the Chechen territory and get registered there.

At the present moment, practically all missions of humanitarian organizations are situated in Nalchik, Nazran, Vladikavkaz and other cities of southern Russia

Explaining the reasons behind such a decision, Chechen Deputy Prime Minister Lema Magomadov said the republic is stable as concerns security. “Such organizations as Air Canada, the Polish Humanitarian Action and the International Committee of the Red Cross have opened their missions in our republic and cooperate with the Chechen government on a due level,” Lechkhadzhiyev stressed.

He also informed the audience that after the two-week deadline, he will offer Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov to suspend the activity of these organizations that have failed to register in the republic and move their offices and depots there.
