Sindh: World TB Day Raises Awareness


Community members participated in walks throughout Sindh cities over the weekend commemorating World Tuberculosis Day, in efforts to raise awareness about the disease.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel led a walk taken out on the occasion of World TB Day from Pakistan Chowk to the Hyderabad press club to create awareness about the disease.

A large number of health workers and schoolchildren participated in the walk and were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans to fight tuberculosis.

City Nazim Javed Jabbar, Dr Iqtidar Chaudhry, Dr Samad Sheikh, Habibul Hassan Ghauri and others were also present on the occasion.

Speakers said tuberculosis is treatable and proper medication is required to control the disease.

Our Jacobabad correspondent adds: The Directorate of Tuberculosis (TB) Control Programme in collaboration with the District Health Services Larkana, Pakistan Chest Society (PCS) and Mercy Corps Pakistan organised an awareness walk in connection with World TB Day here on Saturday.

The walk started from the Department of Chest Medicines of the Chandka Medical College (CMC) Hospital Larkana and culminated at Jinnah Bagh Larkana after passing through all important thoroughfares of the city. The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans. People belonging to different walks of life, including professors, doctors, notables, officers, social workers, students and teachers, participated in the walk.
