Oromo: Encouraging Development


Administrators are positive about socio-economic developments occurring in the last six months in the Oromo region.

Various development activities carried out in Oromia Zone of the Amhara State during the first half of this Ethiopian year are encouraging, the zonal administrator said.

Presenting the half year performance report to the 4th Assembly of the Zonal Council held in Kemissie town, the administrator, Seid Yusuf said various development works aiming at speeding up the Zone's development were executed in the reported period with 61 million birr.

He said activities are being carried out in the areas of ensuring good governance and addressing socio-economic problems of the publuic. [public]

The public have been contributing its share for the achievement of development golas in areas of agriculture, education, health, among others, Seid said.

Over one million quintals of harvest has so far been collected, he said, adding farmers in the zone are developing fruits and vegetables on over 10,000 hectares through irrigation.
