Sindh: Peaceful Observance of Youm-e-Ashur


Celebrations of the holiday were marked with religious harmony, tolerance and cooperation between Sindh and Pakistani authorities.

Sindh Chief Minister, Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim Tuesday said that Youm-e-Ashur was observed peacefully in entire Sindh province, due to excellent demonstration of religious harmony, tolerance and unity by the people.

According to a statement issued here, he said that over all situation[s] in small and major cities of Sindh remained peaceful.

He said that Youm-e-Ashur was marked with religious fervor in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Khairpur and all other parts of the province and no report about any untoward incident was received from any area of Sindh.

He said that effective security measures made by the government in all cities of Sindh helped in maintaining peace on Ashura.

Sindh Chief Minister said that people demonstrated commendable religious harmony, tolerance and unity on Ashura.

He appreciated the attitude and cooperation of mourners and participants of the processions with the law enforcement agencies which enabled the same to maintain law and order situation.

Dr. Arbab further commended coordination between Sindh Police and Pakistan Rangers Sindh, and said that both the agencies showed excellent professionalism.

If the example of unity presented by the people on Youm-e-Ashur is kept up in future, it would help successfully defeat anti-state and anti-Islam elements, he noted.
