Abkhazia: Georgia Planning Provocation in Gali District

Georgia is plotting a provocative act in the breakaway province of Abkhazia's Gali district, the Abkhaz president's envoy to the region Ruslan Kishmaria told Interfax.
"The latest reports suggest that 600 members of the Georgian groups White Legion and Forest Brothers have gathered in Georgia's Zugdidi district on the border with Abkhazia to destabilize the situation in the Gali district," he said.

"Georgian security services are planning to launch an assault in Abkhazia's Ochamchira district to isolate the Gali district, which is part of the zone under the control of Russia's peacekeeping forces. We have received reports that vessels are being prepared to carry participants in the sea-launched assault," the envoy said.

Abkhazia "is keeping a close eye on the situation. It is ready to respond using any means available to it," Kishmaria said.
