Kosova: Minority Issues to Be Main Topic of Kosova, Serbian Presidents' Meeting in Vienna

Veton Surroi, head of the Consultative Council for Minorities said that the issue of minority communities will be a priority after the meetings of Kosovar and Serbian presidents and prime ministers
Veton Surroi, head of the Consultative Council for Minorities [CCM] and the chairperson of the Reformist Party Hour, said today in Prishtina that the issue of minority communities will be a priority after the meetings of Kosovar and Serbian presidents and prime ministers, which is expected to take place in Vienna.
Surroi made these comments following the meeting of the CCM, which was focused on the general proposals for the protection of the rights of minorities in Kosova.

"The issue of minority communities will be the main issue of the agenda after the meeting of the prime ministers and presidents in Vienna, whereas the basic idea is to make a law out of this document and this must be done by Kosova political leaders, with help of the European Centre for Minority Issues," said Surroi.
Surroi voiced confident that Belgrade will finally accept the idea that they must talk with Kosova for the protection of the Serb interests as a minority issue.

Meanwhile, Mark Weller, the head of the European Centre for Minority Issues evaluated the meeting as very constructive, adding that they must continue the close cooperation with the Kosovar Delegation and its political group.

"Today we have discussed with the Consultative Council for Minorities the outcomes of the Thessaloniki meeting and about the inclusion of the minority protection issues in the final status settlement," said Weller.
