Bougainville: Constitutional Commission to work on third draft constitution

Bougainville Congress Leader Joseph Kabui says the first autonomous election will be held before the end of the year
The Constitutional Commission on the Papua New Guinea island of Bougainville is starting work on the third draft of the province's constitution.

It comes after the second draft was held up for nearly a year while PNG Government officials addressed legal queries raised by the document.

Bougainville Congress leader, Joseph Kabui, says there are hopes the next stage will be over within a couple of months, when the Constituent Assembly will meet.

Mr Kabui says everyone remains committed to having the provinces first autonomous election before the end of the year.
