Chechen Foreign Ministry welcomes the European Parliament's recognition of Chechen genocide

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria warmly welcomes the European Parliament’s official recognition today of the deportation of the Chechen nation of 1944 as “an act of genocide” and the official request of the European Parliament to the European Commission and the High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union “to study the Akhmadov plan” for peaceful resolution of the Russian-Chechen Conflict.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria considers these decisions of the European Parliament as a serious historical step on the way to achieving peace and justice for the much-suffering Chechen people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria thanks European parliamentarians for these commendable actions.
