The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has appealed to NSCN(IM) leaders Isak Chishi Swu and Th Muivah not to create ethnic tension in the region by sowing seed of "hatred and violence".

UNLF senior publicity officer Ksh Uoihenba said here in a statement that the NSCN(IM) was trying to "mislead" people and playing "dirty politics".

The UNLF never indulged in any communal politics, he said adding, " Everyone knows the politics played by the NSCN(IM). " He alleged that the NSCN(IM) was involved in the ethnic conflicts between Kuki and Naga and Kuki and Paite. It also said the NSCN(IM) was trying to dismember the hill valley by calling a 52-day economic blockade in Manipur.

He appealed to the NSCN(IM) not to disturb communal harmony in the state and divide the people. It further said the UNLF was not against the Naga community, but against the policies of the NSCN(IM).
