The UNPO Football Cup is a tournament for teams formed from nations, minorities and indigenous peoples that are prevented from participating in the official world of sports. The tournament will be held in the spirit of the Olympic tradition of Pierre de Coubertin. Participating teams will be: the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Southern-Cameroons, West-Papua and Southern-Moluccas. By representing their people, these official teams will create awareness of the struggles of unrepresented nations and peoples.

The tournament is in preparation of the ‘VIVA World Cup 2006’ organized by a partnership of UNPO and N.F.- Board, a FIFA-counterpart that represents peoples not recognized by the FIFA. The tournament will take place on Thursday 23 June, 6 pm, at the ‘Sportcomplex De Verademing’ Asmanweg, The Hague, the Netherlands. It will be open to the public and attended by the respective communities of the participants and the guests of the General Assembly (GA).

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) is a democratic, international membership organization. Its Members are indigenous peoples, occupied nations, minorities and independent states or territories who have joined together to protect their human and cultural rights, preserve their environments, and to find non-violent solutions to conflicts which affect them.

UNPO will convene its Seventh General Assembly from 24 to 26 June 2005. 61 UNPO Members, from the Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa to the Caucasus and Asia, will be sending their delegates to The Hague, the Netherlands under the slogan “Globalize Democracy; To Defend Human Rights and the Right to Self-Determination in a System of International Law Guarantees”. During the GA, delegates will discuss current developments concerning indigenous peoples, occupied nations, minorities and independent states, as well as taking part in a Peace March and the UNPO Football Cup.
